Instructions for using THE GOLDEN MASK and the GOLDEN FEATHERS to Import Characters into TheGreenGame

This Guide is for those who received the Golden Mask and Golden Feather items for the Alpha Test of TheGreenGame.

Each Golden Mask drops 3 Golden Feathers. Each of these Golden Feathers can be used to import a character from another world into the connected planes of Alfheim, land of the fae, and Mundis, the physical world, and turn them into a type of fae called a Masked that can travel freely between both.

* * *NOTE: Even if you use all 3 of your Golden Feathers, this does NOT exclude you from claiming your 1 MYO from The Mask Shoppe,  for the ability to create a completely new Masked character from scratch. Every player has the ability to claim 1 Character in this way regardless of how many characters they have in the game. You may also save this claim for as long as you wish until a Mask Shoppe appears that you are interested in.

  1. All past adventures shared between those with a Golden Mask are canon within the world of TheGreenGame, with changes made so that all owned characters are now fae, all lore and concepts match TheGreenGame, and all unowned characters, lore concepts are removed. This will be an ongoing process of editing and reworking until it is complete and the story is whole once more. It is a collaborative process in which all who took part in the adventure and receive a Golden Mask are invited to be involved. Characters not owned by holders of a Golden Mask, or who wish to be excluded from the story will be removed and will not be a part of the story or rebuilt canon of TheGreenGame. The lore will add deep complexities that have implications to the story moving forward and will likely take future stories in new directions. Players are welcomed and encouraged to reinvent and remake their characters however they wish when importing them into TheGreenGame, and these concepts will be changed and reflected within the remade adventures and canon.

  1. EXP (and NYX when applicable) will be gained for all RPs, writing, and art involving the imported character. These will be made canon when possible using only concepts, lore, and characters from TheGreenGame. However, even writing and art that cannot be edited to make them canon will gain points. For example: pieces with many characters that are not a part of TheGreenGame and written pieces deeply hinging on characters and concepts that are not owned by the players of TheGreenGame, will still be eligible and included for EXP when the character is first imported. After this special import period, further non-canon art will not be eligible for EXP. but can be created at any time. Use the EXP System of TheGreenGame to give each character EXP for all adventures and art they are included in, as well as art and writing created by others for that character. Add the EXP bonuses for additional characters as though they are also Masked, to reflect and honor the effort put into these pieces.

NOTE: Only include pieces that contain the character you are adding to TheGreenGame, as only characters you own can earn EXP. For example, art and writing you made only of other characters not owned by you or TheGreenGame and belonging to another world cannot be included for EXP. Add these pieces to each of the EXP Trackers corresponding to each character you are importing into TheGreenGame. When you first start begin the game, any pieces from that other world that are not viable for EXP will be able to be turned in for a small amount pool of NYX as an acknowledgement of past adventures and efforts. All past experiences and memories that are imported but cannot be changed to be made canon will be termed “Golden Memories” going forward; existing in the barrier between reality and fantasy. What is possible to consider canon, is considered canon, and what cannot be, is not. Characters experienced friendship, growth, and adventure together; this was all real. All characters, concepts and lore not owned or created by you or other players within TheGreenGame are no longer canon and are substituted for various fae, known and unknown.

“Memories may grow pale, or even blurry with time, yet what remains vivid despite all is how they change you.”

Now it’s time for the fun part: reforming your character to make them a part of their new home! Feel free to read the Lore pages to get information to get an idea about the setting and concepts of the fae and the Masked themselves. Once you are done learning about this new world, there are only a few key concepts that should be thought about when it comes to importing your characters:

Do you have any changes you want to make to your character?

1. There are no limits to how the Masked can look, aside from the fact that all of them have Masks that never change which they wear somewhere upon their forms. Do you want to add extra toes, claws, eyelids, noses, mouths, wings? Make your character dreams come true! The bodies of Masked are reflections of their soul, being, and fae magic, so as they change and grow more powerful, they can alter their formsyou’re your Masked won’t be stuck with any one design forever. A Masked's body is made up of natural or imagined parts made from living beings. Masked do not have robotic, machine-based, non-living materials, or artificial bodies as a part of their natural forms. However, Masked can be notorious collectors and hoarders of interesting objects and articles, and they can build, collect, or gather artificial and magical materials from Mundis and Alfheim to wear on themselves. If they lose a limb, they can commission a craftsmaster fae to create them an artificial limb or make one themselves. Some may augment or try to change or shape their bodies with artificial pieces they find in the environments of Mundis.

Some Masked also enjoy wearing clothing, jewelry, and accessories upon their bodies. They may have a treasure earned in TheGreenGame that they wear proudly, or they may have been given beautiful clothing or jewelry from a friend. Unless a material is woven with small amounts of a special anti-magic material such as silver or iron, when the Masked transforms from their Mundis to their Masked form, their clothing and/or accessories taken and hidden within the seal of their Mask, and only reappear once they transform back. E.g., if a Masked is wearing an ordinary T-shirt when in their original form, and their Masked fae form is the size of an elephant, the Masked Seal will seal the substance of the T-shirt along with the rest of their form when they transform, rather than shredding it, and they will be wearing the same T-Shirt again when they transform back into a human. But if they were put in chains made of an anti-magic metal, transforming into Masked fae form would not make the chains disappear, and they would resist the transformation itself.

NOTE: If you import a character that participated in the RP Group, "Creed of the Silenced," this character gains 1 Golden Feather as a special Treasure Item that they can wear in their fae forms. It will be hidden and sealed within their Mask when they transform into their original form, but will reemerge when they take on their Masked fae form once again. This Treasured item cannot be destroyed, gifted, or traded, and is a special marker, acknowledging the bonds and memories among this small group of fae.

2. Masked, like all fae, are magical, alive, and they breathe and eat. Their diets vary as widely as their body types. Some photosynthesize, others subsist on minerals in the earth, while still others eat meat or vegetation, or both. They can be adapted for breathing water or for surviving the desert. However, they live forever unless they contract a rare fae illness, starve, or are killed or destroyed. Their bodies are far more durable and resilient due to their fae magics and the Mask that seals them.

3. All Masked have an "original form" which was the creature, plant, or other living organism of Mundis they were before they were sealed. Only living things can be sealed by the fae and made into a Masked. Your Masked will be able to resume their original form at will, and their original form is permanent and cannot be changed. The original forms of some Masked may appear to age slowly, or age to a point and then stop, while others stay the same age as when they were first sealed. This does not reflect actual aging, as the Masked, like fae, do not age with time and can live forever. Instead, this apparent aging is due to their magic and internal self maturing over time and reflecting this in their original forms.

4. Any animals, plants, or minerals of Mundis that are bound or "sealed" to the Masked magically become Companions. Some plant and mineral companions that are unable to move may seem to become a part of or attached to the body of the Masked that sealed them. All Masked are made naked and alone on the day they sealed, and are  “reborn” into the world of the fae with only their Masks. As Masked journey the world, they may find creatures that follow them, or plants and minerals they are drawn to and wish to carry with them on their journey. The Masked can choose to use a magical seal called a Companion Seal to have the creature, mineral, or plant join their journey. This sealing magic similar to a Masked Seal, but much is a far lower order of magic; easier to accomplish and less dangerous and damaging to the Masked that performs it. All animals, plants, fungi, and minerals sealed in this way share in the fate, magic, and immortality of the Masked that binds them. They are sustained by the power of the bond, and do not change in their forms, or rot, or die, unless the Masked that bound them is destroyed. If their Masked does perish, the Companions may remain for a while, wandering Mundis and Alfheim until the magic that sustains them fades, and they die at last. Companions may be sealed willingly in friendship and love, or forcibly and unwillingly. They are sealed forever unless unsealed by the Masked that bound them. For imported characters, all creatures, plants, fungi, or minerals that were already travelling with or were a part of the Masked are imported alongside the character and made into Companions.

5. When a Masked creates another Masked, the strain of the immense NYX used in the powerful sealing magic cracks their Mask and their fae form, causing a strange kind of sap to drip out. When this sap seals and hardens, it forms Sealing Amber, which can take many different colors and forms depending on the combined magics of the sealer and the one being sealed. When it hardens, it may look like a gem, crystal, or frozen droplet. Though the Mask itself will heal from the strain of the Masked Seal, the resin itself will remain on the body of the Masked, covering and protecting the wound and scar that opened. It is magically bound to the form of the Masked and cannot be removed; it is a mark of great power, for though the ancient fae can perform Masked seals with far more ease, few Masked gain the ability and survive the process of performing a Masked Seal to create another Masked. All characters that were made in another world, even if those characters do not become a part of TheGreenGame, retain their reminder from the Sealing Amber that their makers carry. New stories can be made for these tokens of arduous Masked Seals, or they can be left to mystery and silence.

6. Choose which court of fae your Masked belongs to: Seelie or Unseelie. The court that your fae belongs to is determined by their personality and character, but they themselves are not determined by what court they belong to. Read the lore on each of the courts for more information, and choose well; the moment a Masked is made, its being and magic is either a part of one court or the other, and this court never changes, just as the Mask that seals them never changesThere are a few key differences between the courts, aside from the lore, that also might help determine which court you think your character best falls under. First, the colors of a Masked’s Mask reveal to all what court it belongs to; bright, pale, and vivid colors for the Seelie Court, and dark, dusky, and muted colors for the Unseelie Court. The actual body colors of the Masked themselves can vary widely and only the Mask itself holds to this color rule. For example, though rare, it would be possible for an Unseelie Masked to be sunny-side-up yellow, but have a pitch-black Mask, or a Seelie Fae to be dark blue and have a pastel-pink Mask. Second, Seelie fae are capable of learning Blessings, while Unseelie can learn Curses (These are powerful magics that Masked can unlock, and are created, named, and defined by the player, unique to each character). NOTE: Both courts of fae can learn any kind of elemental magic, as nature is a part of all fae and shared by both courts. When importing a character, any magic that the character has can be brought with them. If the magic would be considered to be Blessing or a Curse, the Masked should either be assigned to that court of fae or have the magic power edited to properly fit within the court they chose.

Player Profiles, MASKED PROFILES, & The Masked Masterlist

Character and size descriptions for the Masked are handled by the players themselves within their Masked Profiles. Player Profiles will be used to keep track of Green services done for the earth and the NYX earned for them, as well as the characters a player owns. Masked characters will constantly grow as they are used, and their personalities may well grow and change as their bodies change with their magical power. Therefore, instead of a centralized Masterlist system, TheGreenGame uses a system in which the players are the ones who control and hold most of the info about their characters. The Masked Masterlist instead acts as an organization or collection that provides a glimpse of all the Masked characters, showcasing the beauty, variety, and creativity within each character at the current time of its journey. Each Masterlist entry will then link to the full Masked Profile maintained by the player so that viewers can get a full view and understanding of that character.

The Masked Masterlist will record these aspects:

1. A picture or short physical description of the Masked character

2. Name

3. Masterlist reference number

4. Court of Fae (Seelie or Unseelie)

5. Who their Mask was Sealed by (and a link to that NPC or player owned character's Masterlist Entry)

5. Date their Mask was Sealed

6. Magics (includes Blessings & Curses, Seals, etc)

6. Owner(s) & Creator(s) Names, linked to their Player Profile(s)

7. Title. This is the title which the Masked is known by. It might be a title that evokes wonder, friendship, gay fun times, or dread and horror. In Alfheim, fae often refer to others of their kind by their titles as a sign of respect or fear, love or hatred. It is a deep tradition, and soon Masked unlock and are given their own titles. The title may change and shift as the Masked does, or stay the same, unchanging throughout their long years. All bearers of the Golden Mask can give their imported fae character a title immediately without unlocking it, for their characters already come with stories and adventures, and those who know of them.

8. Fairy Ring: This is an aspect for high level fae, but all members holding a Golden Mask can choose to have their character gain this immediately. It is an area in which a powerful Masked can place their Fairy Ring, a portal that binds the world of Alfheim, and Mundis. This Fairy Ring brings the two planes close to each other so that even creatures of Mundis can stumble through the portal, accidentally or purposely. Though what the Masked calls their Fairy Ring can vary or be vague, it must have an exact location in the real world. There is a Google Maps in which all Fairy Rings for the Masked are placed, and the Masterlist of the Fairy Ring will link to this place on the map. Once placed, it cannot be moved, but your Masked can choose to close their ring, and open a new one elsewhere when they unlock the power to do so. The Royal Masked who have Fairy Rings consider this area their “Courts” and can choose to build build castles, structures, and royal domains, or simply a lonely hermits abode in the area of Alfheim connected to their Fairy Ring. If your Masked has not yet gained the EXP to Ascend, or reach fae royalty within their court, they can have a Fairy Ring, but cannot yet build any structure in Alfheim or hold court there until Ascending to royalty at level 8: Duke.

Any additional character info is organized by the player in their Masked Profile, and should include their EXP Level, A link to their EXP Log, Details on all their Magics, Seals, and Items.

Info on their personality, background, size, history, etc is great to add as well! You can also add extra things, like reference pictures, their theme song or playlist, or details on their adventures. Be creative with it and design your profile to not only give information about your character, but also to express them!

Lastly, a character does not have to be removed from one world in order to be imported into the world of TheGreenGame. Just like in any RPG experience, players are free to use their original characters to explore many different worlds, games, and experiences.

All characters that participate in TheGreenGame remain under the complete ownership of their owners. The Masked are not a "species," but rather concepts created for the game that delve into the mythology and lore we have created as a method for having fun while encouraging green action and positive change in the world. Any person is free to remove their character from the game and masterlist at any time, or to use their owned character for their own stories, art, and lore outside of TheGreenGame. We will never try to claim any characters from their owners, and owners are free to use their own characters as they wish in any media that they wish. Only the original lore, concepts, personal characters, and NPCs of TheGreenGame are owned by its creator, Sokolva.
