NYX
"The Reserve is hidden beneath the ground. Deep deep down, where it is safe. It used to run openly through the streams all over this land, but it has learned to be secret. It has learned to creep and pad on predator's paws, with the swiveling ears of prey. You seek to catch hold of it, but that is a losing endeavor. Wait instead. Listen. Press your palms to the earth and think on all that you have done, what you have been a part of. What you haven't yet accomplished, and are called to attempt. What you should have done, and failed to. Tell your story, and the gifts you have given, what you have to give still...
...Do you hear it? Yes indeed...Quiet, still, yet overflowing with a humble power. They say it knows the names of those whom have scarred and roughened their hands, broken their claws, dirtied their skin and fur, and bent their backs in service. The Reserve has drank of their sweat. It knows the weight of their promises, the taste of their love. If it knows your name, if it has drank enough of you, it will answer your call. It will find you, probably when you least expect it. It will pour itself into you, many times over, and fill you up.

The NYX Reserve is the place where players can spend the NYX they've earned from Green activities, permaculture, helping the environment, and improving the soil, to grow their Masked characters magical powers and abilities by Unlocking magics that the Masked EXP Level has made available. This is also where NYX can be spent to empower Masked to use Sealing magics, such as those used to seal Companions, create new Masked with Mask Seals, and create a Fairy Ring.
NYX can also be earned in small amounts from participating in community activities and writing collaboratively or role-playing with other members.
Instructions for Using the NYX Reserve
To use The NYX Reserve, simply find the next available line going down the list. Using the Comment function, fill in the blanks with all the info required. Once your submission is accepted, we will fill it in and make it a permanent listing, recording your Masked's unique magic, and your contribution to the environment, and the story and world of TheGreenGame in the communal NYX Reserve.
1. Player Profile: A link to your player profile, which should have a link to your NYX Log on Google Sheets.
2. Masked Profile: The profile of your Masked Character that you are pouring your NYX into. NOTE: Must be a Masked that you own.
3. Magic Unlocked: The types of magics you wish to Unlock for your Masked or what type of Sealing Magic you are empowering your Masked to use. A comprehensive list of all the types of fae magic can be found HERE. List all the magics that you are using NYX to unlock.
4. NYX Cost: The total NYX cost of the magics you are Unlocking for your Masked, added together.
5. Magic Effects & Details. The fun part! Describe the unique magic that your Masked is unlocking. What is the name of their unique Blessing or Curse, and what does it do? What Elemental magic came to them due to their services to nature and their connection to the earth? What Glamour did they study or what Shifting magic did they master? Name the spell something cool or interesting or funny, and then describe what it does. A fae's magic is as unique as the fae that wields it, and this is an important part of your Masked's identity, story, and lore, and will become an integral part of the legends told about them.
Information Needed for Seals:
If your Masked is using NYX to perform a Seal, state which type of Sealing magic they are using (Companion Seal, Masked Seal, or Fairy Ring) followed by the details of what, who, or where is being sealed.
Companion Seal: State which non-magical plant, animal, mineral, fungus, etc, of Mundis is to be Sealed.
Masked Seal: If you are making the new Masked for yourself, state this. If you are raffling, giving, or trading away the Seal to another player, Link the Player Profile of the player you are giving the Masked Seal to. Your Masked character will gain permanent Sealing Amber on their form in a location of your choice (with a Sealing Amber item for Masked Profile to represent this) and their Masterlist will be updated. Once the Masked they Sealed is created and added to the Masked Masterlist, the new Masked Masterlist will link back to your Masked as the one who Sealed them.
Fairy Ring: Name the location of your Fairy Ring using exact coordinates. You can name your Fairy Ring location what you wish. We will use your coordinates to drop a pin in the location where your Masked's Fairy Ring will be on our Masked Fairy Ring Google Maps, which shows the location of every Fairy Ring currently maintained by the Masked.
Collecting NYX
NYX SYSTEM Breakdown
Nyx is gathered through the green, conservationist, ecological, and permaculture actions you as a Player take within the real world and record on your NYX Log. Your NYX is tied to you the Player, and is a kind of magical pool of energy you can collect, gather, and use on any of your own Masked characters to have them learn magics they have unlocked, or to give them the NYX needed to perform Seals.
NYX is gathered in two main ways: , first, through recording the hours spent doing green activities in detail in your NYX Log. Each hour spent is eligible for a set amount of NYX, regardless of what the activity is. For example, spending 5 hours doing organic gardening and composting the weeds would be worth the same amount of NYX as 5 hours volunteering at an animal rescue clinic for endangered or native species, and also the same NYX as 5 hours picking up trash and recyclables in a forest or local ecosystem. No matter what green activity you are undertaking, your work and efforts earn you an equal amount of hourly NYX as you gather the magical energy of nature and the fae around yourself through your actions.
The second way that NYX is gathered is through bonus NYX points. These are earned through specific actions or achievements you take outside of the monthly and hourly NYX contributions. These are small bonuses but can add up when earned often. Examples of NYX bonuses are donating money or resources to a green charity or organization, engaging with certain events in TheGreenGame, and roleplaying or collaborating to create stories and art with other players.
Hourly NYX
Below is a list of activities that can collect hourly NYX, meaning you can keep track of your hours (in increments of 30 minutes which round up or down to the closest half hour increment). Simply keep track of the time you spend doing these activities and add them to your NYX log with a description of what you did to record how much NYX you gathered. All of these activities are considered equally valuable to the fae and TheGreenGame, and earn the same amount of hourly NYX. This list is NOT at all exhaustive, and will be added to as new players discover and perform activities.
